The term conveyancing is used to describe the legal transfer of ownership of a freehold or leasehold property. It's a fairly in depth process which can take a long period of time to complete and is carried out by a solicitor or lawyer. The sale or purchase of a lease hold property is sometimes more in depth and complicated than a freehold property and as a buyer it is always prudent to find out whether the the property you are buying is of a leasehold or freehold nature. Where leases are on properties close attention should always be paid to the terms, conditions and restrictions contained in the lease.
