A bankers draft is a cheque drawn on your building society or bank  account against cash or funds taken directly from your own bank account. The draft is considered as being a secure way of receiving money and they are often used for large purchases such as cars, property, boats or items where the amount involved is substantial and the recipient wants to ensure that they are guaranteed payment from you (where as a personal cheque issued may bounce and the recipient would struggle to recover payment or the goods they have sold you). If you require a bankers draft being drawn up by your bank they will usually charge you a fee for the administration in preparing it.
